Following the River Ravensbourne from its source at Caesar’s Well in Keston to its mouth at Deptford Creek, the film charts its eleven-mile navigation of an increasingly human world.

The aim of this film was to chart the resilience of nature and its interplay with urban life through a portrait of the River Ravensbourne at three points of its course. As the film progresses, the human impact on the river becomes increasingly apparent. The film offers the viewer an opportunity to reflect on the increasingly fraught coexistence of the natural world with human activity, a reflection whose importance has never been more apparent as we face the biodiversity crisis, rapid urban sprawl, and the climate emergency.
